Delaware Blizzard – February 6, 2010
We are getting a little bit of snow and wind here. They are forecasting 30 inches. It is not enough snow though to deter kids from having fun!

The Dream
Hhhmm.. Lets see I require someone to help me with my magic trick. How about you Alice, do you want to be a magicians helper? Suddenly Jack Jack woke up.
“Jack Jack come down to breakfast” mom yelled. In Jack Jack’s mind he kept thinking..maybe I can be a politician and travel to places like Iceland and Honduras or maybe India or Hungary. Maybe I could be an optician or a technician. You know what I really could be any of those things. Oh well but I still get to talk to a lawyer today and all of that.
Jack Jack’s mom was waiting for him downstairs, Mmmmm eggs. “Thanks mom this is great.” Mom replied, “Thank you Jack. Your dad is ready to go so eat up.” Okie dokie Mom. Okay I am done Mom. See you tonight Mom. Well here goes Mom. I am going to talk to a lawyer today. This should be really interesting.
Well I am at the lawyers office. Twenty minutes passed by. I came out and said “Wow that WAS really interesting Dad. He told me how law worked and everything. I am glad I had the experience,” Dad’s response was “Well son that’s a good thing that you had the experience.”

Wedding Proposal
Okay I am I a sucker for happy endings. Jeremy & I both despise movies and stories where the main character dies or doesn’t get the guy/girl. I have watched this twice and have cried both times. Put this down to Mom getting ready to gain a daughter-in-law but I found this very touching.

Olinda Family Christmas Newsletter
It is Christmas time again and the time to update everyone on the happenings in the Olinda home. As always we have much to be thankful for and praise the Lord for His continued grace and mercy over the past year.
It is has been a year mixed with great joy and sorrow. We have lost some close and precious to us in the past year. Tim’s oldest brother, Walt, passed away in March of this year. We then lost Walt’s wife, Julie, in October. They are greatly missed but remembered during this holiday season. Lisa lost her cousin, Beth, in October. Beth left behind her parents, siblings, a young son and husband. We certainly think of her family during this time and pray for God’s love to overflow and sustain them during this time.
John now is 21 and celebrated his fiancée’s graduation from college in August. Paulette graduated from Bob Jones University with a degree in Culinary Arts. We anticipate John’s graduation in May from college and he and Paulette plan to be married on May 15, 2010 in Massachusetts.James is now 19 and continues his studies as a Public Relations Journalism major at Bob Jones University. He was recently elected President of his society and is looking forward to this opportunity. He continues to write and is looking forward to being the best man at his brother’s wedding!

Laura is gorgeous at the wonderful age of 17. She was able to do CIT at the Wilds this summer and a week of music camp at Bob Jones. She is looking forward to graduating from high school in May and going to college in the Fall. She has not decided on her college yet but hopes to study music education or missions.

Jeremy is in the 6th grade and growing taller and stronger every day. At the age of 11 his feet are outgrowing shoes at a rapid pace and I fear he may put John’s size 13 feet to shame. Jeremy loves his leopard gecko, Saphira, who continues to grow and thrive under his care. Jeremy continues to enjoy Sunday school class and has developed a new friendship at church.

Precocious Peter is 8 years old and continues to thrive in his mischievousness. As the baby in the family he resists the notion that he will have to grow up and maintains that everyone should take care of him. In all honesty he is growing up into a fine young man. He has matured a great deal over the past year with the loss of his uncle and aunt and the loss of a dear pet.
Tim continues with his teaching at Cedar Lane Elementary. He has taken on extra duties as the tech coordinator for the building and has participated in many continuing education courses online. His favorite hobby for this past year has been Facebook. He loves adding new friends and family. If you are not already friends with him, look him up. He would LOVE to connect with you!
I have worked on growing my business this year and have gained several new clients. I do a lot with social media and providing secretarial services virtually. It has been a great learning experience for me and I look forward to growing again in the coming year. The kids remain my delight and joy. I have mixed emotions about John leaving home for good but am thankful that he has found a beautiful soul mate. Please feel free to leave comments and let us know how your family and friends are doing. We would love to hear from you!

Putting a Positive Spin on Things
We have had a fair amount of stress in our family lately. Because of schedule deadlines I asked Laura to give Jeremy and Peter their spelling unit pre-test and she did an awesome job. I didn’t hear any major squabbling taking place. As we were finishing lunch I asked Jeremy and Peter how their pre-tests went. Jeremy replies “I missed six” and Peter replies cheerfully “I got four right”.
Way to go Peter! He has learned the art of putting a positive spin on things. How many times do we grouse and complain instead of seeing the sunny side of life? Paul Chappel wrote in his devotional The Obstacles of Life “The difference between a successful person and one who fails isn’t the presence of obstacles along their path, but their reaction to those obstacles.”
What obstacle are you facing that needs a positive spin? Remember that the glass is half full not half empty!
